LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Jan. 23 (PNA) — Governor David “Jayjay” Suarez visited and distributed assistance to various barangays in the municipalities of Dolores, San Antonio, Unisan, Macalelon, Pitogo, Catanauan and Mulanay this week.

From Tuesday to Thursday, Governor Suarez made the rounds of the seven towns to give away health coupons worth P25,000 to each chairperson of the villages he visited under the “Lingap Kalusugan para sa Barangay” program.

The amount can be used to pay bills in public hospitals in the province or can be used to buy medicines.

It can be recalled that the “Lingap Kalusugan para sa Barangay” gained for Suarez an award, being one of the 2014 Top Ten Outstanding Local Governance Programs all over the country, also called the “Galing Pook Award.” This has benefited 162,081 individuals since it started in 2010.

Each of the 1,242 barangays received P50,000 worth of health coupons yearly.

Aside from the health coupons, Governor Suarez also distributed food packs, seedlings, fertilizers and farm implements to farmers. To the fisherfolk, he distributed boats and fishing tools in addition to food packs. (PNA)
