BRUSSELS, Jan. 20 — Seasonally-adjusted construction production in the eurozone fell by 0.1 percent in November compared with the previous month, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU).

Eurostat said the decrease of 0.1 percent in production in construction was due to building construction falling by 0.2 percent and civil engineering by 0.1 percent.

The figures also showed that in the 28-nation bloc, construction production fell by 0.2 percent in November from the previous month.

Last November, the construction industry grew by 2.2 percent in the euro area and by 2.5 percent in the EU, compared to growth rates in November 2013.

Among member states for which data are available, the largest monthly decreases in production in construction were observed in Italy (-4.5 percent), the United Kingdom (-2.0 percent), and the Czech Republic (-1.9 percent), and the highest increases in Romania (5.8 percent), Poland (2.5 percent), Sweden (2.4 percent) and Spain (2.2 percent).
