MANILA, Jan. 18 — Pope Francis is set to leave the country for Rome on Monday, January 19.

The Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight to Vatican is scheduled to leave Villamor Airbase in Pasay City at 10:00 am.

One hour before his flight, the Holy Father will leave Apostolic Nunciature in Manila, where he stayed during the five-day Apostolic and State Visit to the country.

According to Msgr. Pedro Quitorio, head of the papal visit media and information committee, there will be a simple farewell ceremony for the pontiff at the Presidential Pavillion at 9:45 am.

He said that top Catholic Church officials, some bishops and government officials are going to bid goodbye for the pontiff.

“I think Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas will be there,” the Catholic priest said.

But, Quitorio said he has no idea on who are the officials from the government that will be at the farewell ceremony.

During the pope’s arrival last Thursday, President Benigno Aquino III and a number of government officials welcomed the Holy Father at the Villamor Airbase. (PNA)
