5291 passengers stranded in Bicol ports

LEGAZPI CITY, Jan. 18 (PNA) — A total of 5,291 passengers, 587 vehicles and two sea vessels were stranded in the various ports of the Bicol Region as of 11:00 a.m. Sunday.

The breakdown of those stranded in the ports are: Tabaco City — 550 passengers and 32 vehicles; Rapu-Rapu, Albay — two vessels; Pioduran, Albay — 225 passengers; 36 vehicles; Sorsogon City — 1,729 passengers and 349 vehicles; Matnog, Sorsogon — 2,538 passengers and 143 vehicles; Pilar, Sorsogon — 118 passengers, two vessels and 11 vehicles; Bulan, Sorsogon — 56 passengers; Masbate City — 10 passengers, five vessels and three vehicles; Aroroy, Masbate — one vehicle; Cataingan, Masbate — 65 passengers, one vessel and 12 vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said there would be an improving weather for Albay and the rest of Bicol though it will remain cloudy with possible scattered light rain showers on Sunday afternoon.

An earlier report that 10 persons were believed killed by a landslide in Manito, Albay, the Manito Municipal Police Ooffice and Army men conducted an initial verification and found out that those reported trapped in two houses are now in safe grounds. (PNA)
