'Balikbayans' slate several medical missions in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Jan. 17 — The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has announced a series of medical missions to be conducted by various "balikbayan" (returning overseas Filipino workers) and foreign groups.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Anna De Guzman, announced that on January 26-30, balikbayans from Washingon D.C will conduct surgical/medical mission dubbed "Medical Mission of Mercy" at the Urdaneta District Hospital, Urdaneta City.

On Feb. 15-24, a medical mission in different villages in the province will be held with the doctors from the group called Pangasinan Association of United States of America (PAUSA) in New York City, USA.

De Guzman disclosed that another group of balikbayan will conduct an "Operation Smile" on Feb. 26-28 at the Lingayen District Hospital. This will provide free cleft lip and cleft palate operations.

On the first week of March, another surgical/medical mission will be provided to the people of Pangasinan by a team from Germany.

The PHO will collaborate with these groups on their medical missions. (PNA)
