Bogo told Xinhua by phone the accident was caused by fire in the motor, and there were more than 100 people on board.

According to Bogo, the accident happened near Modale town where the passenger boat left for Kouango, a town bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo, but the cause of the fire is not yet determined.

Bogo said most passengers on the boat were Centra Africans and there were also some Congolese.
