ILOILO CITY, Jan 13 (PNA) — Nineteen schools here have confirmed their participation to the annual ‘Tambor Trumpa Martsa Musika’ competition, one of the events preceding the highlights of the Dinagyang Festival.

Gloria Aungon, who represented Dr. Nelly Valerio during the regular meeting of the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc (IDFI), disclosed that 15 elementary and four secondary schools will be vying for the January 23 competition.

Aside from the subsidy that IDFI extends to the participants, winners will also bring home cash prizes worth P25,000; P20,000 and P15,000 for the first, second and third placers, respectively.

Non-winners will take consolation prizes of P5,000 each.

Meantime, spectators are advised to come early as the performance will start at exactly 7:30 in the morning. Traffic will also be closed at 6am to give way to the preparation of participants.

Performance areas will be at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand and at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

The ‘Tambor Trumpa Martsa Musika’ was revived several years ago as among the main events of the world-renowned Dinagyang Festival. (PNA)
