TUNIS, Jan. 5 — Nidaa Tounes, Tunisia's largest political party, has chosen a former interior minister to form a new cabinet, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Ennaceur said on Monday.

Habib Essid, who served as interior minister under the transitional government of Beji Caid Essebsi right after the 2011 uprising which toppled former president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, has to form a new government within a month, according to the constitution.

Essid also occupied several posts under Ben Ali.

Ennaceur, the parliament speaker who also heads the Nidaa Tounes parliamentary bloc, met earlier with newly-elected president Essebsi to present him with the nomination of Essid.(PNA/Xinhua)
