VP Binay leads distribution of 7,500 relief bags in Cebu

MANILA, Jan. 4 — Vice President Jejomar C. Binay on Sunday led the distribution of 7,500 relief bags to residents of Cebu affected by typhoon Seniang.

According to media advisory, Binay also met with local officials of the affected towns to discuss and assess the damage caused by the typhoon.

”We express our sympathy to those who were affected by typhoon Seniang and we are here to say that our government is ready to help,” Binay said in a press statement.

Binay said the Office of the Vice President (OVP) distributed 1,500 relief bags each to the municipalities of Ronda, Dumanjug, Sibonga, and Carcar.

While in Ronda, Binay also visited the wake and gave assistance to families of 7 people who died because of the typhoon.

The towns of Ronda and Dumanjug have been placed under a state of calamity.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office estimated the damage from Seniang on the province could reach Php1 billion. (PNA)
