DOT marks start of Visit the Philippines Year 2015

MANILA, Jan 1 — On Jan 1, 2015, the country not only marks another New Year but also Visit the Philippines Year 2015 or VPY2015 for short.

VPY2015 is the department’s newest event-centric campaign aimed at helping the country’s tourism industry meet its tourism goal of acquiring 10-million tourists by 2016.

One of the first major events lined up for VPY2015 is the Apostolic Visit of Pope Francis on Jan 15 to 19. Malacanang has already declared Jan 15, 16 and 19 special non-working days.

DOT earlier said that the campaign is also geared at strengthening the country’s brand image and is not meant to replace the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” slogan but enhance it.

The launch of the campaign happened during the the 13th Philippine Travel Exchange (PHITEX) September 2014 led by the DOT and its marketing arm, the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).

At the same time, the DOT also unveiled a microsite that serves as a directory for all of the country’s year-round events.

In October 2014, the DOT meanwhile launched its latest television commercial (TVC) which lists down 15 unique ways to have more fun in the Philippines in 2015.

DOT’s newest TVC, which runs for over two minutes, is part of the department’s efforts to market 2015 as ‘Visit the Philippines Year’.
