Bad weather grounds 6 flights on New Year’s day

MANILA, Jan 1 — Six domestic flights to and from Naga City in Bicol were cancelled on New Year’s day (Thursday) due to bad weather, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said in an advisory.

According to MIAA, among flights cancelled include 5J 521 (Manila-Naga), and 5J 522 (Naga-Manila). Both flights belong to Cebu Pacific.

Also cancelled were four PAL Express flights namely 2P 2265 (Manila-Naga), 2P 2266 (Naga-Manila), 2P 2261 (Manila-Naga), and 2P2262 (Naga-Manila).

State-run weather bureau PAGASA earlier predicted the Bicol region and Eastern Visayas to experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley and Cordillera will be cloudy with light rains.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. Rest of Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.(PNA)
