Western Visayas PASUC games open in Victorias City

BACOLOD CITY, Dec. 17 — The Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) in Western Visayas opened today the Regional Sports Olympics in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

The sports event, which runs December from 17 to 22, gathers hundreds of student-athletes from tertiary government schools from across Region 6.

They are vying for titles in arnis, athletics, chess, badminton, basketball, boxing, karatedo, taekwondo, pencak silat, sepak takraw, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, football, softball, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, lawn tennis, and dance sport.

The competing schools are the Iloilo City-based West Visayas State University, Iloilo State College of Fisheries, Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, and Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College.

Negros Occidental-based Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, and host Central Philippine State University; Guimaras State College, Capiz State University, Aklan State University, and University of Antique.

Negros Occidental also hosted last week the 2014 Batang Pinoy National Championships at Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Bacolod City. (PNA)
