Barangay Ilayang Dupay of Lucena bags outstanding nutrition committee award

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Nov. 20 -– Barangay Ilayang Dupay in this city was adjudged having the City Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committee while a resident, Milagros De Ocampo, bagged the City Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar award, in the 2014 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony-Calabarzon, held Wednesday at The Heritage Hotel Manila in Pasay City.

De Ocampo received her plaque of recognition and cash prize of P3,000 from the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region IV-A, handed over by Ms. Carina Santiago, regional director of NNC IV-A.

Barangay Councilor Jomer Nadera accepted the awards for Barangay Ilayang Dupay on behalf of Barangay Chairman Alex Abadilla.

The Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony-Calabarzon is an annual event that gives recognition to municipalities and provinces in Region IV-A that focus on hunger and malnutrition issues, particularly in the youth.

Also awarded as 2014 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committee in Region IV-A were: Maharlika East, Tagaytay City, first place; Barangay Pansol, Calamba City as second place and Barangay Tagapo, Sta. Rosa City as third place. Sta. Rosa City was recognized as the City with the Lowest Malnutrition Prevalence Rate. Sharing this recognition were the municipalities of Sto. Tomas, Batangas; Mabini, Batangas and San Luis in Batangas.

Quezon province was chosen as the Most Promising Provincial Nutrition Committee in the region. The Lucena delegation was headed by Nutrition Action Officer Azenith Ramos and Jetjet Balagtas. (PNA)
