TIRANA, Oct. 28 — The World Tourism Organization said Monday that 3 million tourists visited Albania during 2014, a 20-percent rise in comparison to the previous year, according to the Albanian Telegraphic Agency.

On the other hand, General Secretary of the Organization Taleb Rifai said that, as a country with natural beauties, historical and cultural ones that have not been discovered yet, Albania possesses all the potential to increase this figure.

"Albania is undoubtedly one of the most promising touristic destinations, not only regarding Europe, but the entire world," Rifai told a media briefing.

"Therefore Albania's future should be much better associated with the future of tourism enhancement, for a social, economic and environmental development," said Rifai.

To transform Albania into a touristic destination, according to Rifai, it is needed the support from the Albanian government and a better and much more enhanced and deep cooperation between the public and private sector. (PNA/Xinhua)
