ZAMBOANGA CITY, Oct. 13 -– A product exhibitor from the CARAGA Region had declared that what other people say about this city was not true after all.

“What others say about Zamboanga City as scary is not at all true,” Magkiangkang Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MAMPC) Marketing Officer Julieta Pielago declared.

The MAMPC produces process food products known as the CREATE Foods based in Bayugan City.

Pielago, together with her husband, came to this city as one of the exhibitors to the just concluded Zamboanga Peninsula Trade Exposition 2014 (ZAMPEX 2014), hoping to prove naysayers from their region that Zamboanga City, and the entire Zamboanga Peninsula is a scary place to visit.

ZAMPEX 2014 was held from October 8 to 11 in this city. It is one of the activities for this year’s Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

What they brought home with them is more than what they hoped for.

“If there will be another ZAMPEX next year, we will definitely come back. Zamboanga City is very different from what it was pictured. The people here are very friendly and hospitable,” Pielago enthused.

The couple was even thrilled to note that, “Among all the trade fairs that we have joined in, it is here in the ZAMPEX that we posted our highest sales. We are just overwhelmed by the outcome. What is good about the people here is that they come to the trade fair not just to visit and see different products, but they really buy.”

Pielago said, as a bonus, ZAMPEX organizers have really made their stay in this city very comfortable.

The Pielago couple promised to bring the good news to their fellow businessmen in their area by promoting Region-9 and ZAMPEX.

“We will definitely come back next year and we will really encourage all businessmen in our region to participate in the ZAMPEX,” they said.

She allayed all fears of people outside Zamboanga Peninsula in coming here.

“Don’t be afraid to come here to Zamboanga. This is a beautiful place and the people are good-hearted. There is really no truth to the notion that Zamboanga is a scary and dangerous place,” she concluded. (PNA)
