MANILA, March 25 — Justice Secretary Leila M. De Lima on Tuesday said that there are more members of the media who received payments from the National Agribusiness Corporation (NABCOR) as consultants to certain projects.

News anchor Erwin Tulfo and radio anchor Carmelo "Melo" del Prado Magdurulang were earlier named as recipient of Php 245,000 check from the NABCOR.

"Actually, hindi lang yung dalawa na nabanggit na. Wala silang sinabi how many we are talking about but they said there are others, other than the two and these are media consultants with respect to certain projects," De Lima said.

After meeting with former NABCOR officials Rhodora Mendoza and Victor Cacal, De Lima noted that there were requirements not complied with regarding the payment of the consultants.

Mendoza and Cacal were accompanied by their legal counsel Atty. Levito Baligod in their meeting with De Lima on Tuesday.

"They said there was no bidding. That is supposed to be the subject of the bidding. This does not fall under the bidding exception and I think there was a memorandum of agreement but there are other requirements not complied with. So, I think that would be part of the inquiry," De Lima said.

"They are not really sure whether these are for advertising projects or consultancy," De Lima added.

On the liability of the members of the media, De Lima and Baligod refused to give their respective comment. (PNA)
