Palace: Mitsubishi has confidence in PHL economic stability

MANILA, March 19 (PNA) — Malacanang on Wednesday said that the meeting between President Benigno S. Aquino III and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. president Osamu Masuko signified that the Japanese company had confidence in the country’s economic stability.

Masuko, who made a courtesy call in Malacanang was welcomed by President Aquino and other top officials in the same manner that the country's chief executive was honored when he participated in the ASEAN Japan summit in Decemberlast year.

Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a text message sent to reporters that the meeting dealt with intentions of the company to make investments in the Philippines.

“…He had a conversation with senior executives of Mitsubishi who signified their intention to make more significant investments in the Philippines,” Coloma said.

“This is on account of their confidence in the country’s economic stability that has been achieved on the platform of good governance,” he added.

Aside from Masuko, also present in the meeting were Hikosaburo Shibata, president and CEO, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp.; Tatsuo Nakamura, vice corporate general manager, Mitsubishi Motors Corp.; Yoshizumi Kurata, senior vice president, machinery division, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp.; Morizako Chokki, senior executive officer, Mitsubishi Motors Corp.; and Junya Masuda, executive vice president marketing division, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp.

0n the Philippine national government side, Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo was also in attendance. (PNA)
