MANILA, March 4 (PNA) — After the arrest of Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) Pampanga Chief Bienvenido Reydado, Malacanang on Tuesday lauded the PNP for its effort to ‘cleanse its ranks’.

“(This) shows the determination of the PNP in cleansing its ranks of people who are on the wrong side of the law,” Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a Palace briefing.

“Bahagi din po yan ng pagpapahusay ng kapasidad ng PNP sa pagpapatupad ng batas,” he added.

Aside from Reydado, reports showed that six civilian agents were also arrested for alleged involvement in illegal activities.

These illegal activities included the recycling of seized illegal drugs. Because of this, all CIDG members in Pamapanga were relieved.

Raids were done last Monday in two CIDG offices in Pampanga and Bulacan, where the regional unit is headquartered.

Recovered during the raids were five high-powered firearms, 11 pistols, a rifle grenade and assorted magazines for different calibers of firearms. (PNA)
