President Aquino’s visit to Guiuan, Eastern Samar cancelled due to inclement weather

MANILA, Feb. 25 — Falling short of his goal to visit five provinces, President Benigno S. Aquino III’s trip to Guiuan, Eastern Samar was cancelled Tuesday afternoon due to inclement weather.

The President is visiting calamity-affected provinces as part of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary celebration. This is the first time the historic commemoration was held outside Metro Manila.

Last Monday, President Aquino went to Cateel, Davao Oriental and Loon, Bohol to visit victims of typhoon "Pablo" in 2012, and victims of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake.

Tuesday morning, the President led the traditional "Salubungan" at the Provincial Capitol Grounds of Cebu City, which commemorates the peaceful revolt between civilian and military forces in 1986.

He also visited Bantayan Island, Cebu where he inspected over a hundred boats for the fishermen which were damaged by typhoon Yolanda.

Afterwards, he visited Tanauan, Leyte to inspect various rehabilitation projects and also visit "Yolanda" survivors. (PNA)
