MANILA, Feb. 23 (PNA) — Since the EDSA People Power celebration has been marked as a school holiday, Malacanang on Sunday said that it is also the perfect opportunity to explain to the youth the importance of the historical event.

Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. in an interview on state-run dzRB Radyo ng Bayan encouraged Filipinos to be one in celebrating the 1986 revolt.

People Power Revolution,” Coloma said.

(“We invite all citizens to join the celebration of the 28th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution,” Coloma said.)

(“It is a favorable that we have a school holiday–a good chance to explain and inform our youth the importance of the spirit of EDSA,” he added.)

Coloma said that the spirit of EDSA highlighted the teamwork of Filipinos, especially in times of need, that is why until now victims of calamities last year are still being helped in every way possible.

(“The spirit of EDSA is also the spirit of bayanihan (teamwork), and showing concern for our neighbors,” he said. “Even if three decades have passed, the spirit is not lost because it lives in our hearts and emotions.”)

“Maki-isa po tayong lahat, kapit-bisig tungo sa pagbangon,” he added.

(“Let us unite, linking arms towards recovery,” he added.) (PNA)
