BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 23 (PNA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will implement the National Community-Driven Development Program (NCDDP) this year in all recipient barangays across the country.

In an interview Saturday, DSWD-Cordillera director Leonardo Reynoso, said the government allocated P84 Billion for the nationwide program sourced from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.

The program, which will run until 2019 is targeting at least 900 municipalities nationwide.

Reynoso said the project’s overall goal is “to provide poor communities access to services and increase their participation in more inclusive local planning, budgeting and implementation.”

Reynoso explained that the program will focus on the full and active involvement of the recipient communities especially in the identification of their projects and its implementation.

Funding, social preparation and community trainings will be delivered directly to the barangay to guarantee that recipient communities have the capability to manage their own community development projects.

The program was approved by President Benigno Aquino III on January 18, 2013. (PNA)
