DOJ orders filing of criminal raps vs. Gomez, 3 others on 84-kg drug haul

MANILA, Feb. 18 — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has recommended the filing of illegal possession of dangerous drugs charges in court against Jorge Torres Gomez and three others.

Gomez is the alleged lessee of the compound where 84 kilograms of shabu were seized in Barangay Inosloban, Lipa City, Batangas on Dec. 25, 2013.

The compound is allegedly owned by former Batangas Gov. Antonio Leviste.

In a 28-page resolution signed by the panel of prosecutors and approved by Prosecutor General Claro A. Arellano, also recommended charged are Gary Ting Tan, Jaime Ibarra Sanchez, Carlos Estollano Ochoa, and certain “John Does” for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”, or illegal possession and transportation of illegal drugs.

However, the DOJ excluded from the list of respondents the couple Arjay and Rochelle Argenos for lack of probale cause. (PNA)
