MANILA, Jan. 13 — The government weather agency warned about further possible flooding and landslides in several areas of Mindanao, expecting moderate to occasional heavy rains from a low-pressure area (LPA).

”Flooding is threatening in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas,” PAGASA said in its 7:00 a.m. rainfall advisory released Monday (Jan. 13).

PAGASA expects rains, which may continue for two to three hours, in portions of Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

The agency urged people and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned to monitor weather conditions and its next advisory on the matter.

In its 5:00 a.m. forecast Monday, PAGASA said the LPA is in the vicinity of Mindanao’s Surigao del Sur province. (PNA)
