ZAMBOANGA CITY, Jan. 9 — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has assured that there are sufficient license plates to be issued to vehicle owners in this city.

LTO Regional Director Aminola Abaton said there is no shortage for this year and the agency has already produced the needed license plates that were not released on time last year.

Abaton said vehicles running without the registered plate numbers are those newly-purchased and those whose owners failed to secure the license plates from the LTO

“We already released the license plates as far as Zamboanga City is concerned. If there are still vehicles without license plates, these are those whose owners failed to claim their license plates,” Abaton explained.

He called the owners of vehicles to visit and look for Noel Noche, LTO Zamboanga City District office-in-charge, to claim their license plates.

He said that there were 54,000 motorcycles registered in this city; 4,000 sports utility vehicles (SUVs); 2,000 public utility vehicles (PUVs); and, 7,000 tricycles.

He said number of vehicles may increase this year as more people are expected to buy either motorcycles or SUVs. (PNA)
