PRC sets up first-aid stations for Black Nazarene procession

MANILA, Jan. 8 — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has set up first-aid stations for Thursday’s Black Nazarene procession.

The PRC said that the first-aid stations will be placed in the following routes:

1. Right side of Quirino Grand Stand near the Philippine Postal Savings Bank

2. Roxas Blvd. cor. T.M. Kalaw near the tamarraw statue

3. P. Burgos cor. Taft Ave.

4. Round Table, Manila

5. Intramuros River Ferry Terminal

6. Quintin Paredes cor. Escolta in front of Savory Restaurant

7. Phil Trust Bank – Lacson Plaza, Sta. Cruz

8. Legarda cor. Arlegui

9. Gonzalo Puyat cor. Quezon Ave.

10. Bilibid Viejo St. in front of San Sebastian Church

11. Quiapo Church near 7-11 store, City State Building

The PRC said a total of 285-strong volunteers and staff from the National Capital Region-Red Cross chapters will man the first aid stations along the procession routes ready to serve.

The PRC has also mobilized 24 rescue vehicles for immediate transport consisting of 19 ambulances, four boats on the Pasig River, one fire truck and one rescue truck.

The PRC said it has also organized its operations to be fully visible in the route to the devotees should they need medical assistance.

PRC’s target is to maintain zero death during the procession.

The two-day Black Nazarene Feast event began Wednesday at the Grand Stand for the “pahalik” festivities, while the translacion from Luneta to Quiapo Church will be on Thursday at 7 a.m. after a mass is held.

Last year, PRC attended to the medical needs of 1,496 devotees, assisted 26 people in welfare desk cases and has found a missing child that was reunited with the parents. (PNA)
