28,807 people evacuated in Surigao Del Norte

MANILA, Nov. 8 — The Eastern Mindanao Command on Friday announced that aabout 8,821 families comprising of 28,807 people were evacuated in Surigao Del Norte due to the adverse effects of super typhoon "Yolanda."

Capt. Alberto Caber, the command's spokesperson, said that these individuals are now being sheltered in various evacuation centers in the province.

Initial reports stated that five houses were totally damaged while four more were partially damaged in Surigao Del Norte.

Caber also said that Siargao Island has no electricity.

Heavy rains and winds are being experienced all over the area but Caber said that bridges and roads are still passable. (PNA)
