Displaced persons in Zamboanga City standoff now at 111,162

MANILA, Sept. 19 — Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 9 director Adriano Fuego on Thursday announced that the 11-day stand-off between the military and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) fighters has now displaced 111,162 people.

Of this figure, 71,265 individuals are now housed at the Joaquin F. Enriquez Sports Complex, more than 60 percent of the total number of evacuees.

The remaining 39,897 individuals are being housed in 56 other evacuation centers and homes of their relatives in Zamboanga City. (PNA)
