Senate committee heads named; Legarda heads 3

MANILA, July 25 — The Senate resumed assigning their committee heads with Senator Loren Legarda having the most number with three during Day 3 of the 16th Congress on Wednesday.

Legarda got the chairmanship on the committees on environment, climate change and cultural communities.

Senator Juan Edgardo Angara now heads the committees on ways and means, and games and amusements.

Also having two committees each is Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who chairs the local government and public works while Lito Lapid with the cooperatives and tourism committees.

The blue ribbon committee is headed by Senator Teofisto Guingona, who also heads the peace, unification, and reconciliation committee.

Senator Francis Escudero takes the powerful committee on finance previously held by now Senate president Franklin Drilon.

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV heads the government corporations and public enterprise, and the defense committees assigned to him last Tuesday.

Having one committee each is Aquilino Pimentel Jr. (electoral reforms) and Senator Pia Cayetano who heads the education committee which was previously assigned to Escudero.

Other senators were assigned to head committees last Tuesday. (PNA)

    this is great news ! I don’t see any other person that would hold environment, climate change, and cultural. Legarda will make sure things get done.

    wow three? she really is passionate about her advocacies. That’s a good thing since I can’t see anybody else doing a great job in that front…

    legarda chairmanship on climate change, cultural communities, and environment is a win in my book. we need someone that’s really passionate so we can get things going in the coming years…
