MANILA, July 7 — Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said she will answer the charges filed by former Sen. Ernesto Herrera before the Office of the Ombudsman.

Baldoza said in a statement issued Sunday: "We will submit ourselves to the jurisdiction of the Ombudsman and will answer in due course the charges that the former senator and his colleagues filed against us.

"I am confident that truth will set us free and that justice and righteousness will prevail."

She added: "I, together with Undersecretary Rebecca Chato and Director Romeo Montefalco, continue our high respect and regard for former Sen. Ernesto F. Herrera as a strong ally and supporter of the DOLE and its tripartite-endorsed decent work agenda," she added.

On the senator's call for her to resign from office, Baldoz said, "As to his call for my resignation, I am sure that former Senator Herrera knows that as a member of the Cabinet, I serve at the pleasure of President Benigno S. Aquino III and I will submit to the President's decision."

Herrera accused Baldoz of intervening in the internal issue when she and the Bureau of Labor Relations decided in favor of the group of lawyer Democrito Mendoza, to head the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines.(PNA)
