CEBU CITY, June 20 — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will start the registration of voters for those voting in the October 25 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections between July 22 and 31, an election official said.
Cebu City north district Election Officer Marchel Sarno said the Comelec has promulgated Resolution 9715, or the calendar of activities for the 2013 synchronized barangay and SK elections.
Sarno said the registration for SK and barangay voters would take on different processes.
SK registrants can only be used for the 2013 SK elections, while barangay registrants can vote in the succeeding elections.
SK voters are youth aged between 15 and 18 years old.
The election period is slated on September 28 to November 12.
The regular election ban will take effect, such as the ban on issuance of appointments, promotions, creation of new positions and giving of salary increases in government offices.
The gun ban will also take effect, as well as the ban on the transfer and detail of officers and employees in the civil service, including public school teachers.
Elected officials cannot be suspended along the time line and bodyguards who are members of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines can no longer escort officials unless with a written order from the commission.
Candidates for the barangay and SK elections can file their certificates of candidacy for three days only, from October 15-17.
The campaign period is only good for nine days, or from October 18-26.
Casting of votes will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 28.
The barangay candidates will have until November 27 to file their respective statements of election contributions and expenditures. (PNA)
