Filipino culture brought to life in NCCA's 25th Anniversary Concert

MANILA, June 14 (PNA) — Performances from high-caliber musicians and artists of the country will highlight the eight living Filipino cultures, and bring the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) 25th anniversary to a close.

This will be done in a concert titled “Mga Kulturang Filipino… Buhay na Buhay” to be staged at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) on June 26, at 6 p. m.

Singer-songwriter Joey Ayala and musician Bayang Barrios are expected to exhibit their wares in the anniversary concert to be directed by ace director Floy Quintos.

Also gracing the stage are the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Dance Group, the Philippine Opera Company, Dance Group Next to Innocence, Mezzo soprano Clarissa Ocampo and rap performer Haydee Bellen.

It will be hosted by NCCA Arts Ambassador Boy Abunda and Venus Raj, the Ambassador of Dayaw, and the Indigenous People’s Festival of the NCCA.

Personalities who helped in the development of the NCCA will be presented awards, namely the late President Corazon Aquino, former senators Heherson Alvarez, Edgardo Angara and Leticia Ramos-Shahani,and Congressman Carlos Padilla.

This concert will be attended by present and former commissioners, and heads and employees of the NCCA. It is open to the public and admission is free.(PNA)
