MANILA, May 27 — The ballistic examination being conducted by the Taiwanese investigators on the firearms used by Philippine Coast Guard personnel during the Balintang Channel incident last May 9 was not completed on Monday.

According to National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) deputy director Virgilio Mendez, the Taiwanese investigators will resume on Tuesday the ballistic examination, which is a meticulous proceeding.

Mendez said if there will be a slug or spent shell from the fishing vessel involved in the incident, a "cross matching" may be conducted.

However, the NBI official explained the "cross matching" may take about 72 hours because almost all the firearms used in the incident are "high powered firearms." (PNA)
