Masbate cops arrest wanted person, 2 violators of Comelec gun ban

CAMP BONNY SERRANO, Masbate City, May 24 Operatives of the Masbate Provincial Police Office arrested an person wanted for robbery with homicide and two others for violation of the Commission on Elections gun ban.
Senior Supt. Heriberto Olitoquit, MPPO director, identified the apprehended wanted person as Jose P. Tumulak, Jr, alias Junnie, 37, married, farmer and resident of Barangay Cabungahan, Cawayan, Masbate.
Tumulak was arrested at 10 a.m., Thursday, in Barangay Poblacion, Cataingan, Masbate, by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Domingo B. Maristela Jr., of the Regional Trial Court Branch 49 in Cataingan, Masbate.
The case was docketed as Criminal Case No. 2413-12 dated September 5, 2012.
Tumulak was arrested by elements of the Cataingan Municipal Police Office (CMPO) led by Senior Insp. Josefino C. Titong, with no bail recommended.
He is now detained at the CMPO.
Olitoquit also announced the arrest by Claveria, Masbate, police under Senior Insp. Stephen H. Cabaltera of Carlos C. Lahoylahoy, 32, single and farmer, and Ronaldo M. Panghunasan, 30, single and fisherman.
Cabaltera and Lahoylahoy, both residents of Barangay Osmeña, Claveria, Masbate, were arrested on May 20 for violation of PD 1866 as amended by RA 8294 (Illegal Possession of Firearms) in relation to the Comelec gun ban and for illegal possession of deadly weapons in the same village.
The Claveria police have already filed a case against the suspects before the Provincial Prosecution Office in Masbate City.
The case was docketed under NPS No. V-12-INQ-13E-00094 and NPS No. V-12-INQ-13E-00904.
Olitoquit said the arrest was attributed to the active participation of the police force multipliers, especially the village officials who turned over the arrested suspects to the local police. (PNA)
