UST confab tackles K+12’s impact on ELT

MANILA, May 20 — The K+12 curriculum and its impact was given a critical look during a two-day conference at the University of Santo Tomas Monday and will run until Tuesday.

This conference was attended by officials, employees as well as students from private higher education institutes and officials and employees of state and local universities.

Organized by the UST Dept. of English, the Second National English Conference with the theme K to 12 + English Language Teaching (ELT) equipped participants with pedagogical (or teaching) skills.

These teaching skills, will complement grades 7 to 12 and college English curricula.

Aside from that topics like 21st Century Skills and Teaching Critical Thinking and Linking High School and College English Teaching were tackled.

Also, different Outcomes-based English Language Teaching and Formative and Summative Language Assessment were also discussed.

After being signed into law by President Benigno S. Aquino, the K+12 program, assured the president, will promise a “bright future” for all Filipino students. (PNA)
