ILOILO CITY, May 20 — The last two years of high school, appropriately called Senior High School Education and an essential component of the K-12 Program have the noble objective of helping students to forge ahead well into the future, and not to meander after graduation as they look vainly for jobs which may not suit their training and qualifications.

This was the prediction of DepEd Regional Director for Western Visayas Mildred Garay who said that in senior high school, students will have the privilegeof selecting their field specialization which hopefully, as in the eyes of K-12 proponents, will make them more successful in finding work whether here or overseas.

Senior high school students or 11-12 graders can choose from a tracking list of majors such as pre-college education, vocational tech, arts and sports education and a host of other fields. As a word of caution, Garay made mention of the importance of earning a certificate of completion of training from TESDA, as the document is vital to be recognized by companies which naturally prefer competent and knowledgeable workers.
