DAVAO CITY, April 24 — Independent senatorial candidate Teodoro “Teddy” Casiño is banking on the solid votes of the party-list he is representing, Bayan Muna, to make it to the Senate.
Casiño, who consistently ranked 24 in the surveys in the senatorial race, said the nine million votes garnered by Bayan Muna in the last May 2010 elections should not be discounted.
“This is the thing that many of you had never known for,” Casiño told reporters during an ambush interview at the Davao International Airport Wednesday afternoon.
He said he still has to work for more, thus, he is here in Davao City to campaign hard in courting the votes of Davaoeños.
“I am scheduled to meet our leaders here as well as barangay leaders who believe in our cause for change,” Casiño said.
In the 2010 elections, Bayan Muna stalwarts Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza also ran under the Nacionalista Party (NP) of Sen. Manuel Villar for senator but failed to win. (PNA)
