3rd Infantry Division chief says they won't succumbed to political pressure

MANILA, April 18 — With the May 13 mid-term elections just a few weeks away, 3rd Infantry Division commander Major Gen. Jose Z. Mabanta, Jr., on Thursday said that they will not succumbed to any political pressure or blandishments to politicians who planning to use the military for their own ends.

“We will not succumb to any political pressure and we will not allow any politician to use the military for their personal or political end," he added.

Mabanta also stressed the 3rd Infantry Division will remain vigilant and steadfast in its peacekeeping missions to ensure honest, orderly and peaceful elections.

"We also challenge all the candidates, civil society organizations, religious groups and the citizenry to be more vigilant in preventing violence and not be swayed by the use of guns, goons and gold," he added. (PNA)
