Pampanga residents urge groups to sponsor candidates' forum

CANDABA, Pampanga, April 8 — Local folks here have asked the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and other organized groups to sponsor candidates' forum for the voters to fully screen the candidates.

According to them, the forum is needed before the electorates finally decide who to vote depending on the qualifications and platforms of government the candidates will present.

"It is our right to know the candidates and their platforms of government. That's why we are asking to hold forum wherein we could fully know each of them," George Manalastas, a resident here said.

"In the past election, the PPCRV held such activity where we saw the desire of the people to have a leader who has clear programs for the welfare of the residents," Manalastas said.

PPCRV is the citizen's arm of the Catholic church in the upcoming May 13 local and national elections.

As a national parish-based political but non-partisan lay movement established in 1991, the PPCRV has earned the respect of both civil society and ecclesiastical bodies in its initiatives of transforming the electoral culture of the country.

It has been consistently working for clean, honest and peaceful elections in the province. (PNA)
