MANILA, April 8 — Team PNoy senatorial candidate Jamby Madrigal on Monday said the latest Social Weather Stations survey showing President Aquino’s satisfaction rating picking up indicates that the Chief Executive continues to benefit from his reform efforts.

“The President is reaping the fruits of his good governance efforts. His political capital has increased significantly because of his deft handling of the Sabah crisis, the investment grade status given by Fitch to the Philippines as well as the economic upswing brought about by his reform agenda,” Madrigal said.

A four-point gain to a net +59 (74 percent satisfied, 15 percent dissatisfied) based on a March 19-22 survey extended President Aquino’s run of “very good” ratings to a third quarter, although the result was still eight points below August 2012’s peak of +67 percent.

The President’s lowest rating to date is a “good” +42, recorded in May 2012.

Political analyst Ramon Casiple claimed the Sabah crisis had boosted the people’s opinion of the President.

“In the beginning, there was divided opinion on how the President handled the Sabah issue, with people feeling he was not doing enough to resolve it. But as the crisis progressed, the people rallied behind the President,” he said.

Madrigal, known for her feisty, no-nonsense style in her previous stint in the Senate, said the forthcoming elections is a good time to show the President support for his good governance and reform agenda.

“We all must rally and support candidates who will help the President continue his reform efforts,” Madrigal said. (PNA)
