TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, April 8 — Television and movie actress Dawn Zulueta proved to be the biggest crowd drawer during the proclamation rally of candidates for the Liberal Party in Davao del Norte’s second district over the weekend.

The ever-supportive and popular wife of 2nd district Rep. Antonio “Anton” Lagdameo Jr. was met with shrieks and cheers from adoring fans, mostly women, as the LP local ticket conducted its rally in a resort at the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos).

Zulueta, who starred in hugely popular “telenovelas” of broadcasting giant ABS-CBN, introduced her better-half before crowds of adoring fans and supporters during the rallies in Kaputian, Peñaplata and Babak districts, calling him “my lovable bana (husband)” as she urged them to once more throw in their support for the incumbent congressman.

“Please do vote for him so he can continue providing public service to you, his constituents,” the actress appealed.

Accompanying Lagdameo in the Samal sorties were LP candidates for the island-city led by reelectionist and last-termer Mayor Aniano Antalan, his running mate Vice Mayor Al David Uy and their councilors.

Also present and proclaimed during the three-town rallies were the administration’s second district bets for the provincial board.

In his speech, the “graduating” congressman vowed to continue his various infrastructure and livelihood programs for the district.

Lagdameo also pledged to work for more funds for the completion of the 157-kilometer Igacos circumferential road which is hoped could further boost the island’s tourism industry as well as draw more investors from the mainland.

“We will also continue giving your district additional health services and we hope to obtain more funds from the national government for more health centers. That way, you won’t anymore have to sail to the mainland too often for your health needs,” Lagdameo told the crowds.

The solon also assured the Igacos residents of an improved power and water supply as he expressed support for the entry of the Aboitiz-owned Davao Light and Power Co. (DLPC) to the island.

Lagdameo is the acknowledged district head of local party Kusog Baryohanon. (PNA)
