DASMARINAS City, April 4 – Liberal Party gubernatorial candidate Ayong Maliksi urged Thursday the people of Cavite province to reaffirm their support to President Benigno S. Aquino III by electing the Team PNoy senatorial bets in the May 13 mid-term elections.

”We are very lucky to have a President who is very honest and firm to fight graft and corruption. Let’s support our President’s ‘Tuwid na Daan’ (straight path) policy by electing the Team PNoy candidates,” Maliksi said during the campaign rally here.

An estimated 15,000 crowd clad in yellow shirts responded with approval specially when Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya, a great grandson of the first Philippine president Emilio Aguinaldo, introduced the President to deliver his speech.

President Aquino drew loudest applause when he announced the construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 Cavite Extension that would benefit some 250,000 passengers every day.

The President also announced other infrastructure projects that would benefit Cavitenos including the Ternate-Nasugbo road and the widening of a bridge in General Mariano Alvarez.

After his speech and raising of hands of local candidates led by Maliksi and vice gubernatorial bet Jay Lacson, President Aquino approached the crowd and distributed yellow bracelets for more than five minutes.

Accompanied by Team PNoy team manager Senator Franklin Drilon, senatorial candidates Bam Aquino, Risa Hontiveros and Jamby Madrigal attended the second sortie of the ruling coalition in Cavite province.

Lacson, son of outgoing Senator Panfilo Lacson, called for more sorties of the Team PNoy in the vote-rich province which helped President Aquino achieve victory in 2010.

”I hope more Team PNoy sorties will be held here in Cavite so that we can beat the ‘agimat’ (amulet),” Lacson said.

Lacson will be running for the vice gubernatorial seat against closest rival Jolo Revilla, grandson of former senator and movie actor Ramon Revilla Sr., who is known for his amulet-inspired movies.

Revilla, who is also an actor like his father incumbent Senator Ramon Revilla Jr., is the running mate of re-electionist Gov. Jonvic Remulla.

Congressman Elpidio Barzaga and wife Dasmarinas City mayor Jenny Barzaga received commendation for hosting a well-organized campaign rally held at the track oval ground of the Dasmarinas National High Schoool here.

”I’m really impressed by the preparation you made for this rally,” Lea Navarro said before introducing the Team PNoy senatorial candidates.

From Cavite, the Team PNoy will travel to nearby province of Laguna on Friday for two campaign rallies to be held in Sta. Cruz and Calamba. (PNA)
