MANILA, Mar. 26 — The convenience of buying prepaid cards among cellphone users will now become a trend for travel savvy yet budget conscious people.

2GO Travel Chief commercial officer Stephen Rey Tagud said they are offering travelers the first sea travel prepaid card.

It has a fixed price for the country’s top destinations such as Bohol priced at P2,500; Cebu, P2,500 and Boracay, P1,950.

Initially, the cards are available at The Hub@kilometer Zero in Rizal Park and all pier ticketing offices.

Eventually, this can be availed of by passengers at all 2Go Travel ticketing offices nationwide as well as convenience stores.

He explained that buying ticket is like buying a prepaid cellphone card and the good thing is that the card will expire a year after the purchase.

To use it, scratch off the protective ink to reveal the code then call the travel hotline and give the necessary details such as name, origin and destination, date of travel, contact details among others.

You will be given a reference number that confirms your booking and then a travel ticket will be sent via e-mail.

The purchase is non-refundable, but when you change destination plan, Tagud said the rates may change according to your new destination.

“When transferring a Boracay card to Bohol or Cebu, any remaining balance will be forfeited.

But when transferring a Bohol or Cebu card to Boracay, any payment difference must be paid for,” he said.

You can also upgrade the accommodation, but it’s subject to prevailing upgrading fees and space availability.

Even if you lose the card, if the trip has already been purchased, you just need the e-Ticket and you’re still set for travel. After the purchase of the card, only terminal fees must be paid.

What’s special about the 2GO Travel card, besides a convenient way to buy your next trip to Bohol, Boracay or Cebu, it can also be given as a gift.

2GO travel card offers passengers additional exclusive perks at no extra cost that include a welcome drink when you check in and meals served at the first class dining area of the ship.

A special tour of the Captain’s bridge can also be arranged.

2GO offers travelers aboard the different comfortable vessels of 2GO Travel. You can choose from a variety of rooms such as suite, cabin and tourist.

Its facilities include Horizon Café, reception area, lounge, bar and grill, salon and sub deck.

“The 2GO Travel transforms into a leisure center at sea. Our ambience affords you a priceless sense of belonging– mingle with friends at the bar, where conversations flow like wine and cocktails or enjoy the music of the ship’s band as you enjoy a fiesta meal at our Grill restaurant. Wander on the open deck under the starlit night or show off your singing talent in our karaoke lounge. All of these activities will create lasting memories with loved ones," he added.

“2GO Travel seeks to create a unique and affordable travel experience at sea so it is with a spirit of adventure that we embark on this cruise to discover more of the beautiful Philippine islands,” he said.

2GO has a total of 21 vessels; of which 17 are for passage—7 are Supercat which normally plies one to two hours like the Cebu- Bohol, Cebu- Ormoc, Batangas –Calapan routes and 10 are hotel- like vessels. (PNA)
