PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, March 15 — Palawan Governor Baham Mitra welcomed Friday the news that the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has included in its list of priority projects the construction of the Northern Palawan Airport (NPA) project in the municipality of Taytay.
Through the Provincial Information Office (PIO), the governor expressed that the inclusion of the airport project in the DOTC list has been long awaited as it will usher in more opportunities in the industries that are now flourishing in northern Palawan, one of which is the tourism industry.
Mitra said that with the airport project, tourism destinations in the north can already be accessible to foreign and domestic tourists who also wish to shorten travel time.
The PIO said the governor has extended his gratitude to DOTC Secretary Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya for including the airport development project in Taytay.
Based on data from the DOTC, the length of the runway will have a measurement of 1,100 meters and its width, 18 meters. The total size of runway markings will be 1,904 square meters. The approved budget for the Taytay airport is more than P48 million. (PNA)
