BFAR chief OKs Bacolod fisherfolk’s proposed projects

BACOLOD CITY, March 11 — Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Chief Carlito Delfin announced the approval of the proposed projects of four fisherfolk associations here worth P210,000 during his visit here recently.

These proposals were lift net for Banago Group of Small Fisherfolk Association, pump boat with gill net for Kitahanon Small Fisherfolk Association, post-harvest facilities for Punta Taytay Marginalized Fisherfolk Marketing Cooperative and rolling fish snack cart for Villa Esperanza Neighborhood/Fisherfolk Association.

Delfin said the funding for the four project proposals will be released gradually from April until June this year.

In response, PTMFMC Chairman Jessie Cris Anda expressed gratitude that their proposed projects were finally approved by BFAR.

KISFA Chairman Joseph Benjamin, on the other hand, recognized that the projects were crucial in increasing their productivity.

Delfin had a dialogue with the fishermen here together with Bacolod City Agriculture Office headed by Atty Goldwyn Nifras, his Supervising Agriculturist Romeo Garcia and Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda. (PNA)
