4 killed in Albay boat mishap

MANILA, March 9 – Four people died from drowning after the passenger boat they were on capsized off the waters of Bacacay town in Albay Friday afternoon, the Coast Guard in Manila said Saturday.

The Coast Guard identified the stricken ferry boat as the M/B John Aspe, which was carrying 26 passengers and crew.

The vessel came from the nearby barangay of Mapao and was headed for Poblacion, Bacacay when the mishap occurred.

Lt. Cmdr. Armand Balilo, PCG spokesperson, identified the dead as Diego Risol, the skipper of the banca, Jeffrey Osorio, teacher Emerlita Barrameda and Chinchin Espinili.

The other 22 passengers were immediately rescued and in good condition at the Cape Hospital in Tabaco, Albay.(PNA)
