Educate your supporters on campaign rules, candidates told

MANILA, Feb 27 — Commission on Elections Chairman Sixto Brillantes, Jr. Wednesday urged candidates running in the May 13 polls to brief their supporters on the campaign rules to avoid sanctions.

"It is the candidates' obligation to educate their supporters of the rules on campaign posters. Ang kamalian nila ay kamalian din ninyo," Brillantes said in his Twitter account.

The poll chief said as of today, 16 senatorial and six party-list groups–have been served notices to remove illegal posters.

"I urge all senatorial candidates and party-list groups to monitor and secure the proper posting of your posters. 'Wag na antaying mapuna pa," Brillantes said.

Senatorial candidates who were served notices are former Las Pinas Rep. Cynthia Villar, Ramon Magsaysay Jr., Risa Hontiveros, Alan Peter Cayetano, Grace Poe, Teddy Casiño, Sonny Angara, Antonio Trillanes IV, Edward Hagedorn, Jack Enrile, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Nancy Binay, Koko Pimentel, Francis Escudero, Jamby Madrigal and Bam Aquino.

Meanwhile, the party-list groups that were also given notices to remove illegal posters include Pwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA), Buhay Hayaan Yumabong (Buhay), 1 Joint Alliance of Marginalized Group, Inc., (1JAMg), Piston Land Transportation Coalition Inc. Kabataan, and LPG Marketers Association Inc.(PNA)
