CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Feb. 25 –- The City Council has requested all police station commanders to submit reports on the compliance of the closed circuit television (CCTV) ordinance imposed on business firms here.

City Councillor Ian Nacaya, chair of the city’s committee on police, fire, and public safety, said Ordinance No. 11075-2008 mandates the installation of CCTV or video surveillance system in the premises of private establishments and public places.

Nacaya also asked the COCPO to submit a list of firms that are vulnerable to crimes that would need to hire security guards.

OIC Police director Graciano Mijares said he noted that some establishments are not willing to hire security guards even if they have already been victimized by criminal elements.

While the installation of security cameras is a must for these establishments, the committee would study the possibility of coming up with a legislation on the matter, Nacaya added. (PNA)
