MANILA, Feb. 25 — Due to continuous rains over the weekend, at least 23 families in a village in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur were affected by a landslide, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Monday.

The NDRRMC said that no casualty or damage was reported but some 23 families were brought to the village gymnasium. The landslide occurred around 4 a.m. last Saturday at Purok Cadena de Amor, Barangay Coronan in Santa Cruz town.

"The incident was triggered by the continuous moderate to heavy rain that had prevailed over the region," NDRRMC said.

The NDRRMC said the town disaster risk reduction and management council provided relief goods to the affected families.

Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Region 11 coordinated with the Environment Department's Mines and Geosciences Bureau to assess and evaluate the area. (PNA)
