1 dies, two hurt in Navotas City fire

MANILA, Feb. 25 — A person died while two others were injured after a fire gutted a residential area in Navotas City on Monday dawn.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the fire started at 3:27 a.m. and razed four houses at J. Alonzo Street in Barangay Daang Hari.

"One person was reported dead, with two injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation while the amount of damages and the affected families/persons are still to be determined," the NDRRMC stated.

The victims were not immediately identified.

It said the fire reached third alarm before firefighters from Navotas and nearby cities of Malabon and Caloocan placed it under control at 4:25 a.m. and declared a fire out at 5:20 a.m.

Twenty-three families were affected and now sheltering at the barangay gymnasium. (PNA)
