(Lead) Crising affects 87,000 people in Mindanao; 1,573 stranded – NDRRMC

MANILA, Feb. 20 — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Wednesday bad weather caused by tropical depression Crising has affected more than 17,000 families or 87,000 people in Mindanao, stranding 1,573.

In its update on Wednesday afternoon, NDRRMC said Crising had affected 17,374 families or 87,139 people in 51 villages in Regions 10 and 11.

Of these, 735 families or 3,568 people are staying in seven evacuation centers

NDRRMC said Crising had caused 1,573 people to be stranded in Central Visayas, and Regions 9 to 12 and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

These included 680 in Jolo, 179 in Bongao, 224 in Ozamis, 190 in Dapitan, 166 in Zamboanga, 85 in General Santos City, and 49 in Iligan.

At least 31 vessels and 14 boats were also stranded due to bad weather.

NDRRMC also said six roads and five bridges were affected in Regions 10 and 11, and in Caraga in Mindanao.

It said the death toll remained at one, with four injured. (PNA)
